2 June 2022

Katikati company BeeNZ Honey has been nominated as a finalist in two categories for the Ministry for Primary Industries Good Employer Awards.

A spokesperson for BeeNZ says they’re delighted to be nominated for the safe and healthy work environment award and the small business recognition award.

“Maintaining a safe and healthy environment for our valued team is of upmost importance to us and we are proud to have a robust health and Safety management system along, with an inhouse wellbeing programme.”

They recognise their staff for contribution towards keeping the workplace safe and have zero tolerance for bullying and harassment, they say. They also support employee work/life balance and encourage social activities outside of work.

“Our wellbeing programme consists of monthly activities both within BeeNZ and supporting charities and organisations within our wider community and those close to our heart. Our team all thoroughly enjoy the camaraderie of these activities, whilst growing our own personal development at the same time.”

Now in their third year, the MPI good employer awards are run to celebrate employers who put their people at the heart of their businesses.

“We received a number of impressive entries,” says MPI’s director of investment skills and performance Cheyne Gillooly.

“Central to all of the entries was a real passion shown by businesses towards supporting their employees by putting their health, welfare and wellbeing first.”

The finalists come from a range of food and fibre sectors, including wine, dairy, horticulture, forestry, apiculture and fisheries.

Awards categories include Ma¯ori agribusiness, employee development, safe and healthy work environment, inclusive and diverse workplace, small business recognition and the supreme award.

The award winners will be announced at a dinner in Wellington on June 29.
