Honey Meister's Notes

The scene

Sand between your toes. Salt in the air. Waves lapping the shore. The cry of a seagull overhead.

Hugging the coastline is an unbroken hem of ancient trees, woven and gnarled into the fibre of the land but reaching out skywards, sprawling and intricate, sculpted by the wind.

Each tree is dusted with bright red flowers, as though shrouded in a fresh fall of crimson snow. These flowers will last but a breath before the petals submit to the breeze, fall to the floor and the moment is lost.

The first glimpse

Pale gold and shimmering with a texture like caramel.

The aroma

Delicately floral, but with a sweet earthiness

The flavour

Beautifully sweet, with subtle floral notes. Close your eyes and picture the sun rising over the sea.

The experience

Pohutukawa makes the good stuff even sweeter. A generous drizzle over buckwheat pancakes. A smattering over coconut ice cream. The sweet kick in your morning smoothie. A thick slather over fresh sourdough.

Or just eaten slowly off the spoon, because you've probably earned it.

It begins with a blossom Our Honey's journey from Hive to Home

Out in the fields and forests of our New Zealand home, rare wildflowers flourish. Many are found nowhere else in the world and our bees adore them.

As these flowers burst into colour for a sweet few weeks each year, the BeeNZ honey journey begins.

Never the same. A perfect pattern with no plan.
