Sweet success creates a buzz Honey producer honoured at Katikati Waihi Beach Community Business Awards.

22 September 2022

Built on family values and respect for nature, people and community, BeeNZ has made it its goal to take absolute care in the entire process from hive to jar.

It’s these values that won BeeNZ the Business Excellence Award at the recent Katikati Waihi Beach Community Business Awards.

Julie Hayes, co-owner and general manager of BeeNZ Ltd, said they were thrilled. “We are proud of our achievements . . . and participating in these awards helps us to feel connected to the community.”

A honey brand, packing facility and exporter based in Tetley Rd, BeeNZ’s primary operation is honey processing and packing for export markets.

Built in 2015, BeeNZ began exporting New Zealand honey in early 2016 and now specialises in producing and exporting highquality honey product to 13 countries.

The Katikati business became Living Wage Accredited last year, and of late, a finalist in the Ministry of Primary Industries in two categories: Safe & Healthy Working Environment and Small Business Recognition. The business also has a wellbeing programme and an internal healthcare benefit programme. “BeeNZ is committed to protecting the environment and holds the Toitu Enviromark GOLD certification.” Under its environmental policies, BeeNZ is required to comply with legal requirements, and to prevent pollution, reduce waste, minimise consumption of resources, educate, train and motivate employees and encourage environmental protection among suppliers and subcontractors.
